Beleghost Bestiary — Boss Dossier XVI
The one boss in this compendium who never stands still long enough to be flanked, and never fights a target who wants to fight her.
Where the compendium's other predators close distance and commit, the Countess spends every phase making sure she's never quite where the party's damage is aimed. She's built around mind games and repositioning, not stacking effects or a scripted execute.
A single target loses themselves for a moment on a failed DC 17 Will save and turns on whoever's nearest to them instead of her — a genuine mind-control redirect rather than a straight damage effect, and the only one of its kind in the compendium so far.
She dissolves to mist, untouchable for an instant, and reappears beside a different target entirely for one free strike (2d6+6 piercing, half of it returned to her as healing). No save to resist it — the only defense is not being the second-nearest body in the room.
The performance drops. A fear pulse clears space around her (DC 19 Will or flee for 2 rounds), and from that point on she's permanently faster and regenerating 4 hit points every round — she stops playing for the rest of the fight.
Undead 2/Rogue 5 keeps the module's convention of a couple of Undead levels for the racial immunities, layered under a real class rather than a caster's spell list — she's the compendium's second pure-Charisma predator build (after Ysolde) but the only one built for mobility and saves instead of direct-damage spellcasting. HP (42) sits deliberately low for a CR7 — the build assumes she's rarely standing still to take a hit in the first place, so it doesn't need Rockheart or Withering Bole levels of raw padding.
Built from scratch, cloned from the module's existing vampire base for the model, appearance item, and weapon loadout, then rebuilt entirely — abilities, class levels, feats, and every script hook. Scarlet Cave already ran spiders and centipedes as its general encounter table but had no named boss.
